Sonic R was that pc game I always played at my grandmothers house. She had a Dell tower with Sonic 3&Knuckles and Sonic R. Of course I always played Sonic R. Its games like these that makes me miss the past, where dlc wasn’t a thing or wireless connection. You had to go to your friend’s house and sit with them and play games. While it did make its way to PC and later consoles, Sonic R was the only exclusive (at the time) Sonic the hedgehog game that the Sega Saturn would get in its lifetime. Sonic R is a racing video game developed by Sonic Team and Travellers tale in 1997 for the Sega Saturn. It’s the third instalment in the Sonic Hedgehog series and features all of the adorable characters from Sega’s previous Sonic games. The player races as one of the ten Sonic characters in varied Sonic-themed race track. They are attempting to stop Doctor Robotnik from stealing the Chaos emeralds.About the game
Sonic and Tails are planning to go on a holiday when Tails sees an advertisement for a ’World Grand Prix’. Sonic is not interested, but when he sees that Dr Robotnik is also participating, he decides to enter the race. Robotnik has recently learned about the whereabouts of the powerful and rare Chaos Emerald. With the help of these emeralds, he wants to enslave the world, and he is using World Grand Prix as a trap to distract Sonic. Amy anD Knuckles hear the Robotnik’s plan and decide to compete. Together, the four must restain Robotniks to get hold of the Emeralds, and also they need to win the race too. Gameplay
*Sonic R is present in both multiplayer and single-player mode. The player selects a character and participates in a footrace on one of five race tracks. Initially, four characters are available, as the players complete tasks the other characters unlocks. The player can collect the item spread across the path. If players collect rings, then they can use it to gain a temporary speed boost or open the doors that lead to a shortcut.
*There is an item panel that gives temporary advantages like increase in speed or ability to run across water. If you collect special items such as Chaos emeralds and Sonic tokens that you can unlock the secret characters.
* There is also a ’Time Attack’ mode, where the player races single to get the fastest time. And there is a two-player competitive mode, that increases to four-players in the Gems Collection port.
